Around Koh Lanta
If visitors haven’t planned to rent a car from Krabi Airport, it’s
possible to find rental cars on the island although there is a limited choice.
High-end hotels have cars to rent out on the premises. If you are the chi-chi
type and you are only seeking some quiet time resting and spa-ing, then renting
a car will be a waste. For instance, some luxurious resorts offer a three-hour
island sightseeing tour by four wheel drive limousine at only BHT 2,500 for two
persons. A three-hour visit to Mu Ko Lanta National Park is BHT1,000 for two persons.
In fact, you don’t really need a car as even when you need to go diving,
transportation is arranged by the diving schools which will send a van to pick
you up at your resort.
But
if somehow you have the urge to rent a car while on the island, Lanta Car Rental
(Tel: 075-684-411)offers a Jeep Suzuki Carribean for rental. Rates start from
BHT1,500 per day, per car, excluding gasoline. The more adventurous types will
surely think more about motorbikes. The rent is about BHT200 per day. For public
transportation, buses run around the island. There are also local motorbike taxis
which are unique to the region. These are modified motorbikes with a carriage
fitted with passenger seats. Each motorbike taxis can take 2 to 4 passengers depending,
of course, on the size of the passengers. | | |
